— Jin Kaze'aze
|
Kaze'aze was the initial primary antagonist in Grand Chase. She was the Queen of Darkness who precipitated the five-year war between the Serdin and Kanavan Kingdoms and served as a major obstacle to the Grand Chase in the course of their adventures.
After being fought as a boss in Kaze'aze's Castle, she makes a grand return in the Tower of Disappearance.
Background[]
Kaze'aze was formerly a human named Karina Erudon. The general's descent into darkness began when Ashtaroth assaulted her, the two princesses, and several other royal families in the Gorge of Oath. Karina, who protected the princesses, was cursed by a demonization spell, and as a result, she was implicated in the murders, and the Royal Guard was permanently exiled from Kanavan. Karina had since developed a hatred for humans. Later, Ashtaroth came in front of her and taught the woman how to use demonic powers and other evil magic, leading to her rebirth as Kaze'aze.
In the year 1454, Kaze'aze infiltrated the Kanavan palace by killing Anyumena's most trusted advisor and posed as him. She possessed the Queen and also placed Ronan under her spell after being spotted. The kingdoms of Kanavan and Serdin eventually went to war, with Ronan Erudon commanding the Kanavan army.
When she was placed on the front lines, Queen Enaruv took advantage of the opportunity to perform an awakening spell on Anyumena. When Kaze'aze learned what had transpired, she cast an even more powerful enchantment to bind Queen Kanavan's mind and fled.
Kaze'aze later discovered Lass Isolet in Ellia, and she set her sights on him as the sorceress' potential vessel thinking he was a scion of the demon race.
Story[]
Bermesiah[]
Kaze'aze bewitched numerous monsters who wreaked havoc over the entire continent of Bermesiah, including the Harpy Queen and the Troll, while the Orc Lord, the Red Gorgos, and Gaikoz himself fought under her rule.
Silver Land[]
Kaze'aze was mentioned many times by the Grand Chase during their time in Silver Land, believing her to be the culprit beyond the corruption. But they soon learned that an even greater agent was at work. The locals said that the threat was coming from the "land of the gods", a place where Kaze'aze was not at.
Ellia[]
Partusay's Sea[]
An illusion of Kaze'aze taking the appearance of Lass leveled out the ship with the Grand Chase on board that was headed towards Ellia in Partusay's Sea.
Kamiki's Castle[]
Kaze'aze Lass was first seen in person at Kamiki's Castle. Ryan and Ronan were able to discern that the boy was under Kaze'aze's control. He left straight away and later came back to transform the defeated Elena into a demon.
Kaze'aze's Castle[]
The Grand Chase eventually arrived at her stronghold and they first fought Lass before going up against the wicked sorceress. When defeated, Kaze'aze discarded the boy and changed into a massive beast to battle the Grand Chase once more.
Elesis then asked the witch for her father, Elscud. Kaze'aze claimed he was pulled into another dimension through the Dimensional Chasm, where he was likely screaming as they spoke. Before she died, Kaze'aze forewarned the Grand Chase of her impending return.
Illusions of Memory[]
Decanee, who broke into the Underworld's Tower of Memories in pursuit of Kaze'aze's memory to claim true powers, awakened the sealed witch from the depths of the abyss. Kaze'aze attacked Decanee because she was angered by the demon's presence.
Before being absorbed, Kaze'aze sensed herself from Decanee, and she realized right away that things may be going in her favor, therefore, embracing her fate. For a brief moment, the demon that had become Kaze'aze began to mix up whose memories were whose. Although she was unsettled by what just happened, Kaze'aze continued to the Tower of Disappearance anyhow.
Tower of Disappearance[]
Following the Prophecy tricking both the Grand Chase and Veigas into fighting, the Tower of Disappearance was summoned via a Dimensional Portal. The Grand Chase was eventually confronted by Kaze'aze, who challenged them to take on the higher floors.
Veigas later entered the Tower and ran into Kaze'aze. He asked about her alliance with someone to which she refused to answer. Shortly after the Grand Chase emerged, he left not wanting to become involved.
During combat with the Grand Chase, Kaze'aze attempted to control Ronan again by stirring up his memories. She then told him about her previous life as a member of the Erudon family. Kaze'aze went for the kill as Ronan fought to withstand her spell, resisting mind control, and used his body to shield his comrades. An amused Kaze'aze simply walked away.
In the aftermath, Kaze'aze spoke to a certain person who asked to bring the Grand Chase to the place where he resided.
Episode &[]
In the wake of the events in the Tower of Disappearance, Elesis was shocked to learn that her father Elscud had become an ally to Kaze'aze all along. The anguished red-haired warrior then began to fight them on her own.
Harrier Renak's Core[]
Renak, who was clinging for life after a long battle with the Grand Chase, was confronted by Kaze'aze. Her existence as a demon struck Renak as strange, but Kaze'aze said that one must consider one's own identity before making assumptions about others. As a reward for giving her enough time, she gave Renak a sliver of truth about how the creature was merely a biological weapon called Harrier No. 1. She also mockingly asked Renak to refrain from discussing their schemes for someone may overhear them and stated that it would not have been able to suck demonic energy from the Tower of Disappearance if not for her. Kaze'aze destroyed the Harrier as she bid farewell.
In the sequel[]
Act 7.9: The Final Battle[]
Following Belile's loss, Decanee stood before the Grand Chase and briefly told them a familiar story of a girl who had been banished in Kanavan. They were horrified when Decanee changed into Kaze'aze, but despite her recollections, she claimed that they were not the same individuals.
Epilogue 6.2: Illusion of Memory[]
The Grand Chase came across an illusion of Kaze'aze which displayed confusion after seeing that Kaze'aze was still in her true form when she should have already taken over the body of the Striker. The illusion eventually understood that Kaze'aze had already been vanquished by them before, and lamented the fact that she was experiencing death again when Kaze'aze had already died.
The group was perplexed as to how the illusion could have come from the late Kaze'aze's memories, given that they thought she was still alive and well. They also wondered who was the Kaze'aze in the Tower of Disappearance and what was Decanee supposed to be.
Act 25.7: Quick Reunion[]
Gerard recommended bringing Io to Anyumena for the information she had, but he was alarmed to find out from her that the real Queen had already been replaced with a fake Queen, claiming that Kanavan's Court Magician Vice had removed Queen Kanavan out of the throne and had her replaced with Kaze'aze.
Act 25.9: Under the Queen's Name[]
When she overheard Anyumena and Elscud, the fake Queen interrupted their conversation only for Anyumena to address her as "Karina" which angered the Queen, stating that she was the one who denied her that name. With the fake announcing her desire to reignite the Kingdom War, Anyumena truly lost pity for her old friend. The fake Queen was enraged when the Grand Chase, who had just defeated Vice, had finally caught up to the evil schemes of Kaze'aze.
Epilogue 7.6: Uninvited Guest[]
Stellar came clean and confessed to the Grand Chase that the purpose of Kaze'aze for interweaving material worlds into one by summoning Towers of Disappearance at each nearby dimension was because she wanted to construct a second Underworld that would supposedly be free of death and hold eternal life.
Act 31.1: No Soul No Mind[]
Refusing to seek forgiveness from Heitaros, Decanee replied that she had died not as Karina but as Kaze'aze and was no longer even that woman at that point, asking Pino how he felt masquerading as someone who had previously been himself.
Displeased after Pino reaffirmed that she was, in fact, 『The Existence that Sows the Seeds of Chaos』, Decanee continued to lament why she had to live by the sins of Kaze'aze and swore not to let the Demon God have the last laugh.
Act 31.9: Secret Benefactor[]
With the chase for Kaze'aze coming to an end, Decanee at last revealed to the Grand Chase that the evil queen had met her demise in their hands much earlier, and the person they met in the Tower of Disappearance was none other than Decanee herself, who at the time had believed she was the true Kaze'aze.
Attacks[]
Kaze'aze Lass[]
Kaze'aze Lass has access to the Thief's basic combo, Double Jump, Kunai Toss, Dash Attack, Impact Slash, and Final Strike Chaser. The fight may be viewed as a PvP match in certain aspects, although, Final Strike Chaser cannot kill as it phases through the floors without causing massive explosions. He lacks Fatal Tempest Fury and the Skill Tree and neither the player nor Kaze'aze Lass can grab each other.
A further trick used by Kaze'aze Lass is that once he takes too much damage, he slips away from danger while remaining invulnerable and intangible throughout the slide.
Jin Kaze'aze[]
After beating Kaze'aze Lass, Kaze'aze discards the body and assumes her beast form. Her attacks involve a low swipe, a claw slash leaving off a dark orb that deals constant damage over time and haste, running across the room and trampling, a roar that summons a dark vortex on top of her opponents sucking them in to deal damage similar to Dio's grab, a full spin that shakes off her enemies, and a DANGER attack that involves her pounding the ground 3 times.
Tower of Disappearance[]
As a sign of her attacks, Kaze'aze taps the Evil Eye that surrounds her in sequence. Though she does not move about, She teleports around the corners of the room as well as its center frequently. Her attacks consist of...
- ...summoning 5 dark orbs in an arc and launching them, becoming larger as they go forward; when utilizing this, Kaze'aze touches her 4th and 5th eye-shards.
- ....creating multiple damage-dealing pillars all around her, as indicated by runes on the ground; Kaze'aze touches her 2nd eye-shard when using this.
- ...summoning 6 eye-shards, 3 of which are sent flying at an indefinite range to her left and right; Kaze'aze touches her 1st eye-shard to trigger this.
- ...bringing forth a damage-reducing barrier that dissolves after a little while and a deadly cloud forms directly over the players; this begins when Kaze'aze touches her 1st and 2nd eye-shards.
- ...erecting a dark pillar around her that depletes HP then directs 2 tiny flames in an arc to her sides; this starts when Kaze'aze touches her 5th eye-shard.
- ...creating a powerful orb around her that when struck sends players flying far back; Kaze'aze touches her 2nd eye-shard to begin this.
- ...building up energy while runes appear on the ground either away from or toward Kaze'aze followed by lightning strikes over the rune placements, causing tremendous damage and can only be avoided with Dodge System or invulnerability frames because it hits everywhere; Kaze'aze taps her central eye-shard to activate this and teleport to the middle.
Whenever players stray too far away from Kaze'aze during the battle, the gauge in the upper center of the screen fills up. When it reaches capacity, Kaze'aze generates a black orb that expands across the whole screen, instantly putting everyone in FATAL and bypassing all sorts of invulnerability. Once this is done, the gauge empties.
Assisted[]
In the final room, Kaze'aze projects her Evil Eye into the middle and summons the demonic beast of Apocalypse. Kaze'aze retains all of her skills in this battle but she utilizes them more swiftly and does not touch her eye-shards. Because the actual creature itself is a backdrop element, it cannot be damaged. Furthermore, the gauge fills regardless of the player's position and is faster than before.
The gigantic creature has only one attack. It will lock on the position and impale the player with 2 of its thorns dangling from the top of the screen. The actual physical impact does not cause damage, but upon hitting the ground, a dark patch emerges beneath that slows the player within and deals minor damage over time.
During this encounter, Kaze'aze has 2,000 HP making her nearly unbeatable. However, killing her is not required to win the battle. She and the creature attack the players for around 4 minutes before the dialogues appear, allowing the players to complete the dungeon when they survive the onslaught which nevertheless results in FAIL due to the story. If players somehow succeed in defeating Kaze'aze, the ending dialogue loads right away, rather than having to wait for 4 minutes.
Illusions of Memory[]
Grand Chase Dimensional Chaser[]
An illusion of Kaze'aze can be fought as a boss in Epilogue 6.2: Illusion of Memory.
When her HP goes below a certain level, Kaze'aze creates an 'Infernal Swamp' that continuously deals damage and attacks. When hit by thunder, the damage received by party members increases for a certain amount of time. Afterward, she performs a follow-up attack.
Trivia[]
- The name "Kaze'aze" is pronounced as Kæ-zè-æ-zé.
- The word kaze means "wind" in Japanese.
- While the "human" form appeared first in the Tower of Disappearance, Lass said that Kaze'aze looked that way even before she stole his body.
- In Grand Chase Dimensional Chaser, this claim was supported further as images depicting past events also showed Kaze'aze in this form.
- However, her original design was used in the manhwa and the promotional artwork of Nightmare Circus.
- In Grand Chase Dimensional Chaser, this claim was supported further as images depicting past events also showed Kaze'aze in this form.
- In Season 1, Lass did not originally appear in Kaze'aze's Castle. Instead, a smaller humanoid form of Kaze'aze was fought, wielding an orb similar to Abyss Knight's and capable of firing a large beam from it called Double Buster. After defeating this form, the orb within her hand would grow several times larger until it sparked a reaction, transforming into Jin Kaze'aze.
- In Season 1, Kaze'aze had an animation to transform but it was removed before Season 2.
- There is an armor set that makes players look like Jin Kaze'aze called the Kaze'aze Armor Set.
- In Season 1, Kaze'aze Lass wore a similar armor, only it had lighter textures.
- In Season 2, Kaze'aze Lass wore this armor set except for the helmet.
- From Season 3 onward, the armor was redesigned with the face of Jin Kaze'aze on his chest and emanates a dark aura that resembles the Gladiator's Mocking Blade effect.
- In his portrait, Kaze'aze Lass wore this armor with a cloak.
- There is a pet modeled after Jin Kaze'aze called Kaze'doggeh.
- Kaze'doggeh attacks by spitting fire, an attack in which the actual Jin Kaze'aze was no longer capable of performing.
- Thief Skill Tree had a skill, Shadows of the Past, that made Lass groan in pain while summoning Jin Kaze'aze albeit smaller for gameplay considerations.
- In Level 1, Jin Kaze'aze would pound the ground furiously.
- In Level 2, Jin Kaze'aze would shoot a fireball creating a large explosion.
- In The Whispering Woods, Elesis mentioned that Kaze'aze was stationed on Ellia despite having no evidence of her whereabouts.
- Kaze'aze mockingly claimed that the "peace" was disturbed because of the Grand Chase's violence which can be considered true. After all, they hurt countless goblins, orcs, harpies, and other beings just to find her.
- However, Kaze'aze was still at fault for influencing many creatures to go rampant in the first place.
- Interestingly, the strange lifeforms fought in Kounat which were also a product of demonization had a color scheme that resembled that of Jin Kaze'aze's.
